I grew up in small town in upstate New York called Gloversville. Once the hub of the United States' glove making industry, with over two hundred manufacturers.
My grandfather owned a glove factory called C.J. Bachner & Sons. He loved the industry and had big clients like VOGUE magazine.
The glove industry moves over seas.
With the decline of the US glove industry, as manufacturing moved over seas, my grandfather closed his shop.
He continued to work into his 70's at another local factory.
In his memory, and that of our hometown, I sew my garments in small batches from my studio in Brooklyn.
